You will operate trucks with a capacity of over 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations. This role also includes unloading the vehicle at delivery points.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Driving to delivery destination for final delivery, to yards for drop off/pick up, or to another destination for delivery or pick up
· Unloading truck at delivery point
· Assisting in loading materials for trade pickups or returned goods
· Collecting payment for COD deliveries
· Maintaining driver and truck log according to state and federal regulations
· Handling all delivery paperwork and assuring proper customer signature and delivery information is obtained
· Inspecting truck equipment and supplies and performing emergency roadside repairs
· Responsible for connecting/disconnecting trailers as needed.
The majority of deliveries and driving will be considered local with all trips to and from the loading dock in one day; however, you may be required to be certified and eligible to make long haul deliveries intra-state. You will be subject to all DOT rules and regulations including random drug tests.
Required education, experience and qualifications:
· 1 year certificate from college or technical school or minimum 1 to 3 years related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Current valid Class A driver license with no more than 2 points on current motor vehicle record
· Certified California DMV endorsement to pull double trailers
· Clean record: no violations for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
· Good oral communication skills in English and ability to read and write in English or Spanish
· Ability to read a map
